Major Setback For Pakistan Cricket As Aamer Jamal Misses Bangladesh Test

Pakistan's cricket team has been reduced to a 14-member squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on August 21. This reduction follows the exclusion of pacer Aamer Jamal due to fitness issues. Jamal, who had a back injury from playing County cricket in England, failed to recover in time and has returned to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore for rehabilitation.

The absence of Aamer Jamal is a significant setback for Pakistan. The 28-year-old made an impressive Test debut in Australia last year, scoring 82 runs and taking six wickets in the third Test's first innings in Sydney. He collected a total of 18 wickets from three matches during his debut series and was expected to be a key player against Bangladesh.

Aamer Jamal Out of Bangladesh Test

Pakistan has opted for an all-pace attack for the first Test. Left-arm quick Shaheen Afridi and returning fast bowler Naseem Shah are set to lead the bowling unit. They will be joined by Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza, forming a formidable pace quartet.

Earlier, wrist spinner Abrar Ahmed was released from the squad to play for Pakistan Shaheens in their second four-day match against Bangladesh 'A'. Uncapped top-order batter Kamran Ghulam will lead Pakistan Shaheens in this match, which begins on Tuesday, August 20.

Currently placed sixth on the World Test Championship standings, Pakistan aims to win both Tests against Bangladesh. Success in these matches could enhance their chances of qualifying for next year's one-off final at Lord's.
