Pakistan Champions Clinch Victory Against India As Sweet Revenge For T20 World Cup Defeat

Pakistan Champions' captain Younis Khan described his team's victory against Indian Champions as revenge for their loss in the T20 World Cup 2024. In the 8th match of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 at Birmingham's Edgbaston Stadium, Pakistan defeated India by 68 runs.

He said, "The way Pakistan was knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024 was very disappointing. We wanted to defeat India here and give our fans something to smile about."

Pakistan's Sweet Revenge Win Over India

Pakistan batted first, scoring 243/4. In reply, Team India was restricted to 175/9 in 20 overs, providing Pakistan a chance to heal their wounds. After the significant win in the biggest match of the World Championship of Legends 2024, Younis Khan's statement was surprising.

The opening pair of Sharjeel Khan and Kamran Akmal provided a spectacular start for the Men in Green, putting up a 145-run partnership for the first wicket before Sharjeel got out in the 11th over.

Sharjeel scored 72 runs off 30 balls, hitting seven fours and five sixes. Kamran continued the aggressive approach, scoring 77 runs off 40 balls before being bowled out by Pawan Negi in the 14th over.

Sohaib Maqsood played an impressive innings, scoring 51 runs off 26 balls with five sixes and two fours. Shahid Afridi was dismissed for zero, while Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten, scoring 25 runs off 18 balls.

India's Response

India started their chase strongly with Robin Uthappa scoring 22 runs off 12 balls. Sohail Khan took the first wicket for Pakistan by dismissing Uthappa. Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina troubled the Men in Green, but Shoaib Malik dismissed Rayudu (39), putting India under pressure.

Suresh Raina continued to fight alone, but Malik controlled the run rate as India struggled to score quickly. Wahab Riaz struck in a single over, dismissing Irfan Pathan (15) and Pawan Negi (1), strengthening Pakistan's position. Raina fought alone but was bowled by Sohail Tanvir in the 19th over. The left-handed batsman scored 52 runs off 40 balls.

Points Table Impact

This win marked the third victory for Younis Khan's team, placing them at the top of the points table in the six-team competition. They had previously defeated Australia and the West Indies. Before this, Pakistan scored 243/4 after batting first.

The victory not only avenged their earlier loss but also boosted their standing significantly in the tournament.
