Mushfiqur Rahim Ruled Out And Najmul Hossain Shanto Doubtful For Bangladesh's Test Series Against West Indies
Bangladesh has announced their squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, starting on November 22 in Antigua. Mushfiqur Rahim will not participate due to an injury, and Najmul Hossain Shanto's participation is uncertain. The team will face the West Indies without these key players, impacting their strategy for the series opener.
Rahim's absence is due to a fracture on his left index finger sustained during the first ODI against Afghanistan in Sharjah. This injury has already kept him out of the ongoing ODI series. Medical evaluations suggest a recovery period of four to six weeks, making him unavailable for the Test matches and possibly the subsequent ODI series in the Caribbean.

Shanto, who was retained as captain despite expressing a desire to step down, might miss the first Test due to a groin injury. This injury also ruled him out of the final ODI against Afghanistan. If Shanto is unable to play, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, his deputy, is expected to lead the team in his place.
The Bangladesh team management has yet to announce a replacement for Mushfiqur in the current ODI series against Afghanistan. Although he retired from T20I cricket, Mushfiqur plans to join the team for the ODI leg of their West Indies tour if his recovery goes well.
Bangladesh's squad for this series closely resembles the one that played against South Africa recently. They will begin with a Test match in Antigua and conclude with another in Jamaica two weeks later. Following these Tests, Bangladesh will engage in three ODIs and three T20Is against the West Indies.
The absence of senior player Shakib Al Hasan, who retired from Tests and T20Is in September, adds another challenge for Bangladesh. Despite these setbacks, they aim to perform well with their current lineup.
