Mohammedan Sporting Reach Final In CAB 1st Division Championship After Defeating Kalighat

Mohammedan Sporting Club will face Bhawanipore Club in the final of the CAB First Division Championship after both teams secured victories in their respective semifinal matches.

In the first semifinal, Bhawanipore Club triumphed over East Bengal Club by 54 runs. The second semifinal saw Mohammedan Sporting outclass Kalighat Club by 5 wickets on Tuesday.

Vikas (5-49) and Vaibhav Yadav (4-29) delivered an impressive bowling performance, restricting Kalighat Club to 167 in 62.5 overs on Day 1. Kaushik Ghosh was the top scorer for Kalighat with 52 runs.

In response, Mohammedan Sporting comfortably chased down the target, scoring 173/5 in 46.5 overs. Jayojit Basu led the scoring for Mohammedan with a fine 61, while Vaibhav (32 not out) and Vikas (30) made significant contributions with the bat.

Player of the Match

Vikas Singh was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, which included a five-wicket haul that was crucial for Mohammedan in the semifinal.

Upcoming Final

This cricket success follows Mohammedan's football team qualifying for the ISL next season. The final of the CAB First Division Championship is tentatively scheduled between May 18 and May 22 at Eden Gardens.
