Mohammed Siraj Addresses Controversy Over Travis Head's Comments After Adelaide Test Send-Off
Mohammed Siraj, the Indian fast bowler, addressed criticism over his animated send-off to Travis Head. He claimed that the Australian batter verbally abused him during the second day of the Pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval on December 7.
Siraj's intense celebration after dismissing Head, who had scored a counterattacking 140, led to exchanges between them. This continued into the third day of the Test on December 8.

After day two's play, Head stated he said "well bowled" after being dismissed by Siraj's low toss. However, Siraj refuted this claim, accusing Head of misrepresenting their exchange.
"It was a good battle. I loved bowling to him. He has batted really well for his 140," Siraj shared with Harbhajan Singh on Star Sports before the third day's play in Adelaide.
"When you get hit for a six on your good ball, it kind of gets annoying. It ignites your passion. When I got him out, I celebrated but he abused me," said Siraj. "It's a lie that he said 'well bowled' to me."
The incident began when Siraj dropped Head on 76 earlier in the day and then conceded a six to him. In response, Siraj bowled Head out with a low full toss and celebrated energetically while gesturing for him to leave.
Head responded with verbal remarks before heading back to the dressing room. The Adelaide crowd of over 50,000 booed Siraj afterward. The pacer later discussed this reaction with the umpires.
Siraj's Perspective and Support
"You can see what he actually said on TV. Initially, I only celebrated but he was the one who started the conversation," Siraj explained. "In the press conference, he lied that he said 'well bowled.' You can go and check the highlights again."
"We don't disrespect anyone. I respect every cricketer. Cricket is a gentleman's game but the way acted after getting out was uncalled for."
Head's Contribution and Response
Head's impressive innings of 141-ball 140 formed the backbone of Australia's total of 337 in 87.3 overs despite wickets falling around him. His performance helped Australia secure a significant first-innings lead of 157 runs.
"Well, I said 'well bowled', but he thought otherwise when he pointed me to the sheds," Head told 'Fox Cricket' after day two's play.
Harbhajan Singh's Support
"But, yeah, it is what it is if they want to react like that. And that's how they want to represent themselves and so be it." Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh supported Siraj.
"You did right. He (Travis Head) never said 'well bowled.' Australians don't say this to anyone," Harbhajan remarked. "I have had my fair shares of battles with them in the past. You should be proud of yourself. You were excellent."
Day Three Developments
On day three, when it was Siraj's turn to bat, he was seen chatting with Head at short-leg position despite still being booed by the Adelaide crowd. Eventually, Siraj was dismissed by Head following several short-pitched deliveries.
