Mohammed Shami's Return To India Cricket Team Hinges On Meeting BCCI Conditions For Australia Tour
Mohammed Shami might soon rejoin the Indian cricket team after showcasing his skills in the Ranji Trophy. His impressive performance could earn him a wildcard spot in the Border Gavaskar Trophy squad, potentially leading to his travel to Australia.
During a match for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh at Holkar Stadium in Indore, Shami claimed four wickets. This game marked his return to competitive cricket since last year's ODI World Cup final.

The national selection committee is keeping a close eye on Shami's fitness and form. Ajay Ratra from the selection committee, along with Nitin Patel, head of the NCA Medical Team, are evaluating his condition.
Their assessment will be crucial in determining if Shami can join the team before the second Test. Their feedback will be shared with Rohit Sharma, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and head coach Gautam Gambhir, who will make the final decision regarding the 34-year-old bowler.
If deemed fit, Shami could fly out after Bengal's match against Madhya Pradesh and possibly join the team ahead of the second Test. He is also expected to participate in a two-day practice match against Prime Minister XI before the day-night Test in Adelaide.
A BCCI source revealed that Shami was asked to play this match as a fitness test since no other Ranji Trophy matches were scheduled before the Test season. The selectors had only this game to assess him.
Shami's return to the Indian team depends on his physical condition post-bowling. The BCCI's Sports Science & Medical Team is eager to see how he holds up after this match. Following ankle surgery after the ODI World Cup final and subsequent knee swelling, his comeback was delayed. If he remains pain-free for four days, he might join Jasprit Bumrah before the second Test.
Shami's bowling performance was a relief for Indian team management. His effort wasn't just about taking wickets but also maintaining a consistent approach. Despite not taking any wickets during 10 overs on Wednesday (Nov 13), he managed four on Day 3. His persistence paid off as he dismantled Madhya Pradesh's batting lineup, helping Bengal secure a lead of 61 runs by dismissing them for just 167 runs.
The way Shami executed his bowling has been particularly encouraging. His rhythm appeared excellent as he consistently troubled MP batters throughout the game.
