Mitchell Starc's Masterclass Secures KKR's Triumph Over SRH In IPL 2024 Final
Mitchell Starc justified his hefty price tag by delivering a stellar performance for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024 final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 26. KKR had acquired Starc for Rs 24.75 crore, and he proved his worth by dismantling SRH's top-order.
Starc set the tone for KKR right from the first over, clean bowling the in-form Abhishek Sharma for just 2 runs. Sharma, who had been in exceptional form throughout the season with 484 runs at an average of 32.27 and a strike rate of 204.21, was undone by a delivery that nipped away to hit the off-stump.

Despite Sharma's impressive season, which included 42 sixes, he could not make an impact in the final. Vaibhav Arora followed Starc's lead by dismissing Travis Head for a duck in the second over, further denting SRH's hopes.
Starc continued his dominance by taking the wicket of Rahul Tripathi on the second ball of the fifth over. Tripathi had been instrumental in SRH's victory over Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2, scoring 37 runs off 15 balls on a challenging surface to help SRH post a total of 175/9.
Starc's resurgence was notable as he had been having a lacklustre IPL 2024 season until his turnaround against Mumbai Indians in match 54. He followed this up with match-winning figures of 3/34 in Qualifier 1 against SRH, where he also dismissed Travis Head for a duck.
Fans were ecstatic over Starc's performance in the final, taking to Twitter to express their admiration. One tweet highlighted his delivery at 140kmph as an "absolute peach".

Starc's performance was crucial in KKR's strategy and execution during the final match. His ability to take early wickets put SRH on the back foot and showcased why he remains one of the most feared bowlers in T20 cricket.
