USA's Milind Kumar Recalls Virat Kohli's Competitive Smirk Before T20 World Cup Clash
The upcoming India vs USA contest in the T20 World Cup 2024 promises to be a unique encounter. Several players from the United States team will face off against former teammates from their cricketing days in India.
USA captain Milind Kumar has a history with Indian cricket, having played alongside Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah for Gujarat at the junior level. Left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar, who played in the 2010 U-19 World Cup for India, also shared the Mumbai Ranji Trophy dressing room with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.

Harmeet Singh, another key player for the USA, has an extensive background in Indian domestic cricket. He has represented Mumbai, India B, Rest of India, and West Zone. During his career, he played alongside notable names like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, and Wasim Jaffer for Mumbai. For India B, he shared the field with Ravindra Jadeja, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, and Umesh Yadav during his debut List A match in 2012.
Milind Kumar's cricketing journey includes a stint as a first-class player for Delhi. He also shared the dressing room with Virat Kohli at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Recalling an incident from his time at RCB, Milind mentioned being voted as the best footballer in the team ahead of Kohli during the 2018 season. "He absolutely hates losing," Milind said. "He gave me the most deadliest of smirks with an undertone of 'I'll see you in the field tomorrow!' But that is the best thing about him, the intensity with which he would compete in any field," he added.
Milind Kumar's debut first-class match for Delhi saw him batting at number three and scoring a hundred in the first innings against Haryana. The Delhi lineup included players like Unmukt Chand and Shikhar Dhawan, while Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal represented Haryana.
Anticipation Builds
The match between India and USA is highly anticipated not just for its competitive nature but also for the personal histories involved. Players who once shared camaraderie will now face each other on an international stage, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this T20 World Cup fixture.
