Kieron Pollard Leads MI New York To MLC 2024 Playoffs; LA Knight Riders Out
MI New York (MINY), the defending champions, secured their spot in the Cognizant Major League Cricket 2024 playoffs with a 4-wicket win over LA Knight Riders (LAKR). This victory eliminated LAKR on net run rate.
Earlier in the match, MI New York's bowlers restricted LAKR to 130 runs at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Jason Roy gave LAKR a decent start with a 23-ball 27, but their middle order faltered with several single-digit scores.

Dewald Brevis set a solid foundation for MINY with his score of 27. Nicholas Pooran then took charge of the chase, scoring 35 off 28 balls before being dismissed LBW by Ali Khan.
However, it was Kieron Pollard who sealed the game for MINY. He hit three consecutive sixes off Spencer Johnson and ended unbeaten on 33 from just 12 balls, striking at an impressive rate of 275.
MINY's decision to bowl first paid off as they delivered an exceptional performance. Rashid Khan and Trent Boult were particularly effective, taking regular wickets and maintaining tight lines and lengths.
Despite LAKR's struggles, Andre Russell managed to salvage their innings with a quickfire 35 from just 21 balls. His late onslaught helped LAKR reach a somewhat respectable total of 130.
