Sanju Samson's 'Dream' 86-Run Knock Against Delhi Wins Praise From Matthew Hayden

Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden recently shared his admiration for Sanju Samson's performance during the match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. On Tuesday, May 7, Samson's exceptional 86-run innings nearly led Rajasthan Royals to victory, though they ultimately fell short by 20 runs. Hayden, now a commentator, praised Samson for his skillful handling of both spin and pace bowling.

Samson's prowess on the field has been evident throughout the tournament, placing him third on the top-scorers chart with a total of 471 runs in 11 matches. "Sanju Samson was batting like a dream, scoring 86 off 46 balls. He's proven his worth time and again...Throughout the tournament, he's been a master blaster, handling both spin and pace with finesse," Hayden remarked during Star Sports' 'Cricket Live'.

Hayden Praises Samson's 'Dream' Innings

Hayden highlighted Samson's timing and power as key factors in his success in T20 cricket, along with his dedication to his team. Despite needing just a bit more fortune towards the match's end, Samson's commitment remained unwavering.

As the captain of Rajasthan Royals, Samson has also secured the second wicketkeeper's position in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup starting June 1 in the Americas. His performance has not only caught the eye of fans but also former India cricketer Varun Aaron, who commended Samson's batting finesse.

Aaron noted that bowlers have been cautious about delivering bouncers to Samson, despite being permitted two per over in this IPL season. However, it was a bouncer from Khaleel Ahmed that eventually led to Samson's dismissal in the match against Delhi Capitals. This delivery disrupted Samson's footwork and resulted in his wicket on a wide slow ball that he typically could have hit for six over covers.

Samson's ability to consistently perform at a high level has made him a crucial player for both Rajasthan Royals and the Indian national team as they head into the T20 World Cup. His technique against various bowling styles and his strategic batting approach will be assets to watch in the upcoming tournament.
