Dale Steyn Anticipates Marco Jansen's High Valuation At IPL 2025 Mega Auction Following Strong Performances

Former South African cricketer Dale Steyn believes Marco Jansen will attract significant bids at the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction. This prediction follows Jansen's impressive performance in the ongoing T20I series against India.

Jansen, who began his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians in 2021, was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4.20 Crore during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. However, he was released after a less impactful season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad retained key players like Pat Cummins and Heinrich Klaasen but had no room for Jansen due to their five capped retentions. They left space for one uncapped player via Right to Match (RTM) at the auction.

Now, Jansen is hitting form at an opportune moment, potentially earning a lucrative contract as teams seek versatile bowlers who can also contribute with the bat.

In a recent match against India at SuperSport Park, Centurion, Jansen scored a rapid 54 off 17 balls in a high-scoring chase. Despite South Africa's narrow loss, his performance stood out.

The left-arm pacer also impressed with the ball, taking 1 for 28 in four overs when others struggled. His innings included five sixes and four fours, showcasing his batting prowess.

Jansen has consistently troubled Sanju Samson in the last two T20Is, dismissing him for consecutive ducks after Samson's century in the first match.

"Marco Jansen, A 10 crore player? I'd say so," Steyn tweeted on his official X handle after Jansen nearly turned the game around for South Africa from a challenging position. The all-rounder took South Africa from 167/6 to 202/7 before getting out with three balls remaining.

Jansen has registered himself as an all-rounder with a base price of INR 1.25 Crore for the upcoming auction on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Jansen's IPL Journey

In his IPL career, Jansen has played for Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking 20 wickets in 21 matches. However, he only appeared in three games during IPL 2024 for SRH, securing just one wicket.

Given his current form, Jansen is expected to draw interest from all ten franchises at the mega auction. Teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians might be particularly keen on acquiring a quality pacer like him.
