Lanka Premier League Season 5 Finale To Dazzle With Drone Show And Cricket Legends

After two weeks of thrilling cricket matches, the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Season 5 is set for its grand finale. The final showdown will take place at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday night, with three-time champions Jaffna Kings facing off against Galle Titans. The event promises to be spectacular, featuring a laser show supported by 500 drones, a first for Sri Lanka.

The final will also see the attendance of 220 delegates from 108 ICC member countries, covering regions such as Africa, the Americas, Asia, East Asia Pacific, and Europe. These delegates will join 30,000 cricket fans to witness this unique spectacle live. During the innings break, 500 drones will create 12 formations in the sky, offering an unforgettable experience.

Millions of fans worldwide will watch the final across ten global networks including Star Sports (India), Monara TV (Sri Lanka), A Sports (Pakistan), T Sports (Bangladesh), Fox Sports (Australia), and Sky (New Zealand). Additionally, OTT platforms like Fancode (India), The Papare (Sri Lanka), Telemed (Pakistan), and Styx Sports (South Africa) will broadcast the match in their respective regions.

Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, Founder and CEO of IPG Group, the official rights holder of LPL 2024, remarked, "Season 5 of LPL has been a series of many firsts, right from record-breaking runs to thrilling last-over deciders and multiple individual brilliance."

Each year, the league has raised the bar with innovative enhancements aimed at captivating audiences and delivering a distinctive cricketing experience. As we conclude the fifth edition of this grand finale stands out as a testament to our strong partnership with the Sri Lankan Cricket Board, aiming to make it one of the most monumental cricketing events of recent times.

The Jaffna Kings reached the final after narrowly defeating Kandy Falcons by just one run in their playoff match. They aim to deliver another strong performance against Galle Titans. The Titans topped the table with five wins and ten points from eight matches before securing their spot in the finale.

Celebrating Sri Lankan Cricket Legends

The spectacle will showcase signature shots from legendary Sri Lankan cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara. It will also highlight the five participating teams of the league. Around USD 10 million has been invested to ensure another successful season of the Lanka Premier League.
