Krunal Pandya Signs With Royal Challengers Bangalore For IPL 2025 Season

In a significant development at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah, Krunal Pandya was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 5.75 crore. The Indian all-rounder, who had set his base price at Rs 2 crore, became the focus of an intense bidding war between RCB and Rajasthan Royals. Ultimately, RCB succeeded in securing Krunal's services to strengthen their team.

Krunal Pandya's IPL journey has seen him play for multiple teams. He was with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after being signed in 2022 for Rs 8.25 crore following a bidding contest with Gujarat Titans. Before LSG, he was a crucial part of Mumbai Indians from 2016 to 2021, contributing significantly to their three IPL title victories during his tenure.

Krunal Pandya Joins RCB for IPL 2025

RCB's head coach, Andy Flower, shared plans to have Phil Salt open alongside Virat Kohli. "We got a lot of our first options, actually. We're really happy with where we stand at the moment," stated Flower. "It was crucial for us to have someone with Salt's aggression to partner Virat. His power at the top will set a strong foundation."

The addition of Liam Livingstone further bolsters RCB's batting strength in the middle order. Livingstone will join forces with Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma, enhancing the team's depth and explosiveness. "Livingstone is really exciting to have alongside Rajat and Jitesh. He's a player with his best still ahead of him," added Flower.

RCB has also strengthened its bowling lineup by acquiring veteran seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. His experience will be invaluable alongside Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya's versatility. Flower expressed enthusiasm about these additions: "It was really great to get Bhuvi today. His skill, along with Krunal's level of expertise, will complement Hazlewood when he returns."

Flower highlighted their pace department's depth with Yash Dayal and Rasikh Salam competing for spots. "We saw what Yash Dayal did last year. With Rasikh vying for a spot as well, we're confident in our bowling depth, especially for the conditions at Chinnaswamy Stadium," he said.

Faf du Plessis Exits RCB

Flower addressed Faf du Plessis’s departure from RCB despite his key role in leadership and batting. The franchise focused on securing an opening batsman who could also keep wickets, now filled by Salt. "There were multiple discussions about Faf. He's been a wonderful leader and is in great form, but securing an opening batsman and a keeper was the priority," said Flower. "Unfortunately, it didn't work out for Faf this time."

RCB's Ambitions for IPL 2025

With these strategic signings, RCB aims to build a balanced squad combining experienced internationals and promising Indian talents. Their investment in players like Krunal Pandya, Phil Salt, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar underscores their determination to end their title drought and achieve IPL success.

Fans are eagerly awaiting how these changes will impact RCB as they approach the IPL 2025 season with renewed optimism and a well-rounded team. With Virat Kohli leading from the front alongside powerful hitters and skilled bowlers, RCB is poised to create a winning formula this season.
