Kolkata Knight Riders Triumph In IPL 2024: Dominant Victory Unveiled
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off in the IPL 2024 Final on Sunday, May 26, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. KKR aimed for their third IPL title, while SRH sought their second. The match, however, turned out to be the most one-sided Final in IPL history.
SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. This decision backfired as SRH had a poor start. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were dismissed within the first two overs, leaving the team struggling to recover.
Andre Russell spearheaded KKR's bowling attack, taking three wickets. Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana also contributed significantly, each picking up two wickets. SRH was bowled out for a mere 113 runs, with Pat Cummins being the top scorer with just 24 runs. Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen scored 0 and 16 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 114 runs, KKR faced an early setback when Sunil Narine was dismissed quickly. However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer steadied the innings. Venkatesh played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 52 off just 26 balls. Gurbaz added 39 runs as KKR completed the chase in just 10.3 overs, securing a dominant victory.
