Kohli, Jadeja Commend Mumbai Police For Stellar Role In T20 Victory Parade
Star cricketer Virat Kohli expressed gratitude towards the Mumbai Police for their exceptional crowd control during the victory parade of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team. The parade, held on Thursday, saw a massive turnout of fans welcoming the team back from Barbados.
The team was hosted for breakfast by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi before heading to Mumbai. The victory parade culminated in a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium, where players celebrated with fans, danced, and shared their thoughts on ending an 11-year trophy drought.

Virat Kohli took to 'X' to thank the police force, stating, "Deep respect and heartfelt thanks to all the officers and staff of @MumbaiPolice & @CPMumbaiPolice for doing a phenomenal job during Team India's Victory Parade. Your dedication and service is highly appreciated. Jai Hind."
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also praised the police for managing the large crowds at Marine Drive. He posted on 'X', "Big thank you to Mumbai police. You did a fantastic job last night #realhero." The players were greeted by lakhs of fans who had gathered to celebrate their victory.
India captain Rohit Sharma, who announced his T20 international retirement after the World Cup, received a warm welcome from neighbours and friends at his Mumbai residence. Fans gathered outside his complex to catch a glimpse of him, and he acknowledged them with waves and smiles amid heavy police presence.
Emotional Moments
Senior off-spinner R Ashwin, who was not part of the squad in the Americas, shared his feelings about the celebrations. He said, "Watching all the videos and pictures from the celebrations yesterday in Mumbai just fills my heart. This nation has given and continues to give so much to the sport. Once again so proud of the champions."
The 35-year-old Kohli, who was named player of the match in the final against South Africa last Saturday, left for London early Friday morning after completing his engagements in India. He had announced his retirement from T20 internationals following the final match.
Safety Measures
The massive fan gathering led to at least 11 people being rushed to hospitals due to minor injuries or dizziness. Despite this, the event remained largely orderly thanks to comprehensive police presence ensuring safety throughout.
The grand reception and meticulous planning by authorities ensured that fans could enjoy celebrating their team's triumph without major incidents. The players' heartfelt messages highlighted their appreciation for both their supporters and those who ensured everyone's safety during such large-scale events.
