KKR Targets For Day 2 Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Key Players And Squad Needs

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) entered the IPL 2025 Mega Auction with a limited budget, having retained six key players. Despite financial constraints, KKR made bold moves on Day 1, surprising many with their strategies. With one of the smallest budgets for Day 2, they still have crucial gaps to fill to build a championship-winning team.

On the first day of the auction, KKR demonstrated their willingness to take risks despite limited funds. Their most significant acquisition was Venkatesh Iyer, who returned to the team for an astonishing Rs 23.75 crore. This move highlighted their commitment to strengthening their squad.

KKR also secured Anrich Nortje for Rs 6.5 crore, enhancing their pace attack with a top-tier overseas bowler. Nortje's inclusion addresses KKR's long-standing need for a frontline pacer. They further added emerging talents like Angkrish Raghuvanshi (Rs 3 Cr), Mayank Markande (Rs 30 lakh), and Vaibhav Arora (Rs 1.8 cr).

Additionally, South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock joined the team, bolstering their batting lineup and providing a strong keeping option.

As Day 2 approaches, KKR has Rs 10.05 crore left in their purse and needs to acquire three foreign players along with some promising Indian talent. Their focus will be on filling several critical positions within the squad.

Heading into the second day of bidding, KKR aims to address specific areas of concern. They currently have 13 players, including five overseas acquisitions but still need to fill some slots:
