The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have strategically approached the IPL 2025 mega auction, securing a total of 21 players. Their focus was on retaining core team members while adding new talent to strengthen their squad.

Before the auction, KKR retained six key players, aiming to bring back as many familiar faces as possible. Their strategy centred around maintaining a strong core team.

Venkatesh Iyer emerged as KKR's most significant acquisition, with the all-rounder being bought for Rs 23.75 crore. Anrich Nortje and South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock were also crucial additions expected to enhance the team's performance.

KKR successfully reacquired Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Vaibhav Arora. The late-stage acquisitions of Ajinkya Rahane and Moeen Ali could prove vital for the team's success.

The complete squad includes Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, Quinton de Kock, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Anrich Nortje, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Vaibhav Arora, Mayank Markande, Rovman Powell, Manish Pandey, Spencer Johnson, Luvnith Sisodia, Ajinkya Rahane, Anukul Roy, Moeen Ali, and Umran Malik.

Projected Best Playing XI

KKR's likely opening pair will be Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an alternative opener option. Angkrish Raghuvanshi may take the no.3 spot with Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh anchoring the middle order.

Ramandeep Singh and Andre Russell are expected to be the primary finishers. Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana will lead the bowling attack with Chakravarthy possibly spearheading it.

The pace attack might include Spencer Johnson as a left-arm option and Umran Malik as another Indian pacer.

Impact Player Options

If additional batting strength is needed, Ajinkya Rahane or Manish Pandey can step in as Impact Players. For bowling reinforcements, Umran Malik or Mayank Markande are potential choices.

Top Reserve Players

Manish Pandey offers middle-order experience while Ajinkya Rahane provides leadership and batting stability. Mayank Markande serves as a backup spinner. Rovman Powell brings overseas power-hitting capabilities in the middle order. Spencer Johnson adds variety with his left-arm pace.
