KKR Clinches Third IPL Title, Outplays SRH In 2024 Final
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins acknowledged that his team "were outplayed" in their IPL 2024 final against Kolkata Knight Riders.
KKR secured an eight-wicket victory in Chennai, as SRH were bowled out for 113 runs. This total marks the lowest ever in an IPL final. KKR chased down the target within 11 overs to lift their third title.

SRH, who were aiming for their second title after their 2016 triumph, failed to capitalise on the opportunity. KKR's bowling attack, led by Mitchell Starc (2-14) and Andre Russell (3-19), kept SRH from gaining any momentum. The Orange Army were bundled out for just 113 runs.
Venkatesh Iyer's Contribution
Venkatesh Iyer scored an unbeaten half-century, making it easy for KKR to chase the target within 10.3 overs. A plethora of records were created, and SRH was at the receiving end of all of them.
Cummins' Reaction
Cummins, who top-scored with 24 off 19 balls, expressed disappointment at the loss. Despite their best efforts, SRH couldn't overcome KKR's strong performance. However, the SRH captain praised his team for a stellar season.
Post-Match Comments
"I thought they bowled fantastically. We did not have enough on the board. We were outplayed tonight. They gave nothing away, just like the last game in Ahmedabad," Pat Cummins admitted after the defeat.
"It was a tricky track to figure out. Didn't feel like a 200-plus wicket; 160 would have given us a chance," he added.
SRH's Performance in Playoffs
SRH were scoring freely during most of the tournament but struggled against KKR in the playoffs. They were bowled out for just 159 in Qualifier 1 against the Knights and could only make 113 in the Final. But Cummins hailed his team for their batting as they set multiple records.
Cummins' Final Thoughts
"The style of our play, particularly with the bat, scoring 250 three times is a good feat. So, it was a great season. I had not worked with many of the guys before, but it was great working with them. A great squad and the staff were amazing," Cummins concluded.
