Kieron Pollard Hits Five Consecutive Sixes To Rashid Khan In The Hundred 2024 Victory

Kieron Pollard demonstrated his exceptional batting skills against Rashid Khan during The Hundred 2024 on Saturday, August 10. His performance was nothing short of spectacular.

Pollard's remarkable feat of hitting five consecutive sixes off Rashid Khan played a pivotal role in Southern Brave's crucial victory. Chasing a target of 127 runs, the Braves were struggling at 78 for 6 and needed 49 runs from 24 balls to win. Pollard, who had initially found it difficult to score, regained his form just in time. His first six soared over cow corner, followed by four more massive hits, including one over long off. This incredible display not only impacted Rashid's bowling figures but also secured the Brave's fifth win in the tournament.

The West Indies veteran's power-hitting left fans in awe and earned him the Player of the Match award. Pollard completely dominated one of the world's best T20 bowlers and turned the match in his team's favour. "I just backed my strengths which is to hit straight and he bowled three full balls in my arc. I had to calculate and pick my bowler, had a better chance going into the small side against Rashid and luckily it came off," Pollard said during the post-match presentation ceremony.

The Southern Brave now look forward to their next match with renewed confidence. They hope to continue their winning streak and secure a spot in the finals. With this victory, they have moved into second place on the points table with 10 points from seven matches.

Despite being on the receiving end of Pollard's onslaught, Rashid Khan acknowledged his opponent's brilliance. "Sometimes you just have to applaud such batting," Rashid remarked.

Pollard has been a force in shorter formats of cricket, and this performance was a testament to his prowess. The 37-year-old has previously represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL but retired from playing in the tournament and now serves as a coach for the Paltans. With such impressive batting displays, Pollard would likely attract interest if he decides to participate in the IPL 2025 auction.

This stunning performance by Pollard not only secured an important win for Southern Brave but also showcased his enduring talent and ability to change games single-handedly.
