When Parupalli Kashyap Introduced Himself To MS Dhoni As Saina Nehwal's Husband

Parupalli Kashyap recently shared a memorable encounter with MS Dhoni at one of the pre-wedding events for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Kashyap, an Arjuna Award-winning badminton player, introduced himself to Dhoni as the husband of Saina Nehwal, a former world number one in badminton.

During their interaction, Dhoni's humble nature left Kashyap awestruck. Dhoni immediately recognised him and said there was no need for an introduction as Saina Nehwal's husband. This moment highlighted Dhoni's down-to-earth personality.

"I met Dhoni at a wedding recently. He was going to the washroom when I introduced myself as Saina's husband as I thought I am Saina's plus one here so some people who follow sport might recognise me if I introduce myself as Saina's husband," Kashyap said on Nikhil Tho Natakalu's podcast.

Kashyap, who won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, expressed his admiration for Dhoni. He recounted how Dhoni acknowledged him by saying, "pata hai bhai. I play badminton. I know who you are and you don't need to tell me that you are Saina's husband." This friendly exchange made Kashyap feel like he was talking to a teammate.

"He spoke to me like a friend, as if I am his teammate. He told me like you played badminton, I played cricket," he added.
