Jos Buttler Breaks Solar Panel With Monumental Six At T20 World Cup
Jos Buttler showcased his batting prowess against the USA in the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday (June 23). Buttler's explosive innings saw him score 83 runs off just 36 deliveries, leading England to chase down the target of 116 with more than 10 overs to spare. This victory secured the defending champions a spot in the semifinals.
From the outset, Buttler was aggressive. He targeted USA's key bowler Saurabh Netravalkar and hit a massive 104-metre-long six. The powerful shot struck the roof of the stadium in Bridgetown, damaging a solar panel on top.

Buttler continued his assault by hitting boundaries across the pitch. The highlight came in the 9th over when Harmeet Singh bowled. After Phil Salt took a single on the first ball, Buttler hit five consecutive sixes.
He reached his half-century with the first six and continued to dominate the American bowlers. Buttler's exceptional performance ensured England's place in the semifinals.
The England star's hitting power was evident as he and Phil Salt chased down the score with an unbeaten partnership, marking the biggest victory (by balls remaining) in T20 World Cup history.
England's Bowling Performance
Earlier, England's bowlers restricted USA to just 115 runs. The co-hosts lost their last five wickets without adding any runs, ending with a paltry score. Chris Jordan took a hat-trick and finished with four wickets in the match.
England's qualification means that the match between West Indies and South Africa becomes a virtual quarter-final. The winner will advance to the semifinals. In the other Super 8 group, Afghanistan, India, and Australia are vying for semifinal spots.
