Jonny Bairstow Determined For Quick Comeback To England Test Squad

Jonny Bairstow expressed his desire to return to the England cricket team, stating it is his primary goal. Bairstow was omitted from England's Test squad for the current series against West Indies. The 34-year-old cricketer participated in England's T20 World Cup squad and played in all five Tests during the India tour earlier this year.

When questioned about his immediate goals, Bairstow told former England captain Michael Vaughan, "All I want to do is play for England. That's end of. You don't need to ask me that do you? I think you know me well enough and I think you've known me for long enough to know that."

Despite his omission, Bairstow enjoyed a break from cricket, having four weeks off before joining the Welsh Fire for The Hundred tournament. He mentioned that this period was beneficial as he had been away from home for nearly seven months since January, with only five nights spent at home until three weeks ago.

"At the same time it's been a great period of time. I had the best part of seven months away from home. Since January, I had five nights at home in my own bed since, until three weeks ago. That's the thing you have to sacrifice, time at home but at the same time, when you are away for that period of time, it takes its toll," Bairstow said.

England currently leads 2-0 in their three-match series against West Indies. The final Test is set to begin at Edgbaston on Friday.

Bairstow has made 100 Test appearances for England and remains focused on contributing to the national team again. His commitment and passion for playing cricket are evident as he continues to aim for an England comeback.
