Jayden Seales Achieves Historic Record For Most Economical Spell In Test Cricket Since 1978

Jayden Seales, a West Indies fast bowler, made headlines with his remarkable performance on Day 2 of the second Test against Bangladesh. The match took place on December 2 at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. Seales achieved a record-breaking four-wicket haul that stood out in men's Test cricket history.

Seales delivered an exceptionally economical spell, conceding only five runs in 16 overs while taking four wickets. His spell included ten maiden overs, resulting in an economy rate of 0.30. This is the most economical bowling performance in Test cricket since 1978.

The previous record was held by India's Umesh Yadav, who had an economy rate of 0.42 with figures of 3/9 against South Africa in 2015. Before him, Maninder Singh from India had recorded figures of 3 for 9 with an economy rate of 0.43 against England back in 1986.

In the ongoing match, Bangladesh chose to bat first after winning the toss against the West Indies. Jayden Seales spearheaded the Caribbean bowling attack by dismissing Litton Das, captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana.

Apart from Seales' heroics, Shamar Joseph also contributed significantly by taking three wickets for the hosts during the second Test match. Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph added to the tally with two and one wicket respectively.

The West Indies began their innings with Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis as openers but managed only a modest partnership of 25 runs before Nahid Rana dismissed Louis. By the end of Day Two, West Indies were at a score of 70/1 with Brathwaite not out on 33 and Keacy Carty unbeaten on 19.

The standout performers for Bangladesh were Shadman Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz with scores of 64 and 36 respectively. Despite their efforts, it was Jayden Seales' exceptional bowling that dominated the day.
