Jasprit Bumrah Achieves Unique Milestone By Dismissing Steve Smith For Golden Duck In Perth Test

On the first day of the Test match between India and Australia in Perth, Jasprit Bumrah made headlines by joining an exclusive group of bowlers. The day was dominated by bowlers, with 17 wickets falling at the Optus Stadium.

India struggled with their batting, managing only 150 runs. Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy were the only players to score decently as the rest of the team succumbed to Australia's fast bowlers. However, Australia's batsmen also faced difficulties, ending the day at 67 for 7.

Bumrah Joins Elite List in Perth Test

Jasprit Bumrah showcased his exceptional skills by taking four wickets in Australia's first innings. He dismantled the Australian batting lineup, securing early breakthroughs for India. His victims included three of Australia's top four batsmen: Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, and Steve Smith. Additionally, he dismissed Pat Cummins.

Bumrah's dismissal of Steve Smith for a golden duck placed him on a prestigious list. Dale Steyn from South Africa is the only other bowler to have dismissed Smith on his first ball in a Test match over a decade ago. This was significant as Smith hadn't been out for zero in a Test match for more than ten years.

With these four wickets, Bumrah has now accumulated 177 Test wickets at the age of 30. Harshit Rana also made his mark by claiming his first international wicket, dismissing Travis Head.

Virat Kohli had a brief stint at the crease, scoring just five runs from 12 balls before being dismissed cheaply. He also missed an easy catch off Marnus Labuschagne's bat.

The day's play highlighted both teams' struggles with batting against quality bowling attacks. While India's batting woes continued, their bowlers kept them competitive by restricting Australia to a low score.
