The first edition of the DPL began on Saturday at Shri Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In their opening match, Purani Dilli 6 faced South Delhi Superstarz. Although Rishabh Pant's team lost, Ishant Sharma remains optimistic about their future games.

Ahead of the opening match on Saturday, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) honoured Purani Dilli 6 batter Rishabh Pant for his contribution to India's ICC T20 World Cup 2024 victory. This recognition set a positive tone for the league's commencement.
"I'm very excited for Delhi Premier League. The League is happening first time in Delhi. My message for young players is to keep working hard and believe in your abilities, this format might be cruel but if trust your abilities and work hard you can do wonders in any format," Ishant Sharma told Purani Dilli 6.
Purani Dilli 6 will next play against East Delhi Riders on Tuesday. Their third match is scheduled for Wednesday against West Delhi Lions at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Ishant Sharma expressed his excitement about playing alongside Rishabh Pant and other teammates from Purani Dilli 6. Having led India's pace attack, he aims to replicate his performance for his current team.
"I have been playing alongside Rishabh for so long, so playing with him is always a pleasure for me," said Ishant.
