Ishan Kishan's Cricket Team Snub Attributed To Fashion Obsession By Ex-Star

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali believes Ishan Kishan has dropped in the Indian cricket team hierarchy due to his focus on 'fashion'. The wicketkeeper-batter has been absent from the team since taking a break in December last year.

Kishan cited mental fatigue from continuous travel without a guaranteed spot in the playing eleven as his reason for the break. He was later seen partying in Dubai after withdrawing from the South Africa Test series, which reportedly did not sit well with the BCCI.

Kishan's Fashion Leads to Team Snub

Instead of participating in domestic Ranji Trophy matches as suggested by the BCCI, Kishan chose to train with Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. This decision led to his exclusion from the central contract list by the board.

"Ishan Kishan has fallen down the pecking order. Woh bhi thoda sa fashion mein lag gaya tha (He too got into fashion a bit)," Basit Ali commented on his YouTube Channel.

The rise of young talents like Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal has further diminished Kishan's chances of making it back into the team. To regain his position, he would need to excel in domestic cricket.

Kishan, who was part of India's World Cup 2023 squad, was not considered for the T20 World Cup 2024. He also missed out on selection for the team of youngsters that toured Zimbabwe for five T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Recent Public Appearances

The Patna-born cricketer was recently spotted at Akash Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding ceremony in Mumbai. He was seen dancing and enjoying himself alongside Bollywood stars and fellow cricketers including Hardik Pandya.

Ishan Kishan's journey back to the Indian cricket team will require significant effort and outstanding performances in domestic matches. His current focus on fashion and off-field activities might be hindering his cricketing career according to some experts.
