IPL Mega Auction 2025: Key Rules On Incremental Bids And Accelerated Process Explained
The IPL Mega Auction 2025 is scheduled for Sunday, November 24, and Monday, November 25. During this event, the 10 franchises can purchase up to 204 players, including 70 international stars. This auction follows a registration of 1,574 players, out of which 577 have been shortlisted. Among these, 367 are Indian players and 210 are from overseas teams.
Before the auction begins, each team received an additional Rs 20 Crore to their previous Rs 100 Crore budget from last season. This adjustment brings their total purse to Rs 120 Crore. However, the remaining budget varies for each team due to player retentions. Some teams have spent heavily on retentions, while others have more funds available for bidding.

Each squad must consist of between 18 and 25 players. The maximum limit includes up to 17 Indian and eight overseas players. A minimum of eight overseas and a maximum of seventeen Indian players are allowed in each squad.
A total of 82 players have registered in the highest price bracket of Rs 2 Crore. Meanwhile, 27 players fall into the second-highest base price of Rs 1.50 Crore. Following this are 18 players at Rs 1.25 Crore and another group of 23 with a reserve price of Rs 1 Crore. The rest range from Rs 30 Lakh to Rs 75 Lakh.
- Bids from Rs 30/40/50 Lakhs up to Rs. 1 Crore increase by Rs 5 Lakh (e.g., after Rs 30 Lakh, the next bid is Rs 35 Lakh).
- Bids from Rs. 1 Crore to Rs. 2 Crore rise by Rs.10 Lakh (e.g., after Rs1 Core, the next bid is Rs1.10 Crore).
- Bids from Rs.2 Crore to Rs.5 Crore go up by Rs20 Lakh (e.g., after Rs2 Crore, the next bid isRs2.20 Crore).
- Bids aboveRs5CroreincreasebyRs25Lakh(e.g.,afterRs5Crore,nextbidisRs5.25Crore).
The incremental bid process clarifies how bids progress during the auction but there's also an accelerated process involved.
