IPL Auction 2025: Mumbai Indians Acquire Will Jacks For Rs. 5.25 Crore Amid Bidding War
Will Jacks, a 26-year-old right-handed batter from England, was a notable figure in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He entered with a base price of Rs. 2 crores and was eventually acquired by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 5.25 crore. This acquisition followed a competitive bidding war between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.
The Mumbai Indians emerged victorious in the bidding war for Jacks, despite Royal Challengers Bangalore having the option to use an RTM card. However, RCB chose not to exercise this option, allowing MI to secure the English all-rounder.

Jacks is renowned for his aggressive batting style and useful off-spin bowling. He made his IPL debut in 2023 with Royal Challengers Bangalore after being signed for Rs. 3.2 crore. Although he missed the 2022 season due to injury, he demonstrated his potential in 2023 as a middle-order batter and part-time bowler.
In his brief IPL career so far, Jacks has played seven matches, accumulating 143 runs at a strike rate of 149.47. With the ball, he has taken three wickets at an economy rate of 8.25, highlighting his ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game.
Beyond the IPL, Jacks has been an influential player in T20 cricket overall. By November 2024, he had participated in 135 T20 matches, amassing 3,374 runs at an average of 31.47 and a striking rate of 155.20. His record includes four centuries and twenty-one half-centuries.
Jacks has also made significant strides in international cricket since debuting for England in 2022. He has been involved in both T20I and ODI formats, delivering impactful performances as a batsman and part-time bowler.
His fearless approach to batting and versatility across different formats have made him a valuable asset in T20 leagues around the globe.
