IPL Auction 2025: Detailed Overview Of RTM Buys By All Franchises

The IPL Auction 2025 was filled with intense moments as teams utilised their Right to Match (RTM) cards to retain crucial players or outbid competitors. This RTM card allowed franchises to keep key players even after other teams placed bids on them, adding a strategic layer to the auction process.

Chennai Super Kings strategically used their RTM card for New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra. Initially acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 3.2 crore, CSK increased the bid to Rs 4 crore, securing his return. Ravindra's dual skills with bat and ball made him an essential retention for CSK's robust squad.

Delhi Capitals made notable moves with their RTM cards. They retained Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk for Rs 9 crore, despite aggressive bidding from Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. Delhi also matched a Rs 8 crore bid for Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar, previously pursued by Punjab Kings, recognising his value in pressure situations.

Punjab Kings exercised their RTM card for Arshdeep Singh, one of India's top emerging pacers. Initially picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 15.75 crore, Punjab matched the bid to retain him. Arshdeep's skills in death bowling and swing make him a vital player for Punjab Kings.

Mumbai Indians used their RTM card wisely to secure Naman Dhir, a promising Indian batter, for Rs 5.25 crore. Despite Rajasthan Royals' initial bid of Rs 3.4 crore, Mumbai ensured they retained this young talent to strengthen their middle order with promising Indian players.

Lucknow Super Giants retained West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph using their RTM card after Mumbai Indians initiated a bid. Although Shamar had limited opportunities last season with LSG, they saw potential in him and matched Mumbai's offer to keep him in the squad.

Royal Challengers Bangalore re-signed Swapnil Singh using their RTM option after Delhi Capitals placed initial bids. RCB matched the Rs 50 lakh bid to ensure Swapnil's return. As a left-arm spinner, he adds variety to RCB's bowling attack and strengthens their spin options.

Gujarat Titans brought back R Sai Kishore into their squad for Rs 2 crore after releasing him earlier. The Tamil Nadu spinner was initially bought by CSK but is now retained by Gujarat due to his consistent economy rates and reliability, enhancing their spin department.

The RTM rule significantly impacted the IPL 2025 auction as teams like CSK, DC, and Punjab Kings successfully retained key players at high prices. While some franchises chose not to use their RTM options, those who did managed to secure valuable players strategically. As the auction continues, teams will focus on building strong squads through strategic acquisitions.
