IPL Auction 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Acquires Phil Salt For Rs. 11.50 Crore Amid Competitive Bidding
Phil Salt, the English wicketkeeper-batter, has been acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs. 11.50 crore. The 28-year-old right-handed player was previously released by Kolkata Knight Riders before the IPL 2025 auction. Entering the mega auction with a base price of Rs. 2.00 crores, Salt became RCB's second purchase.
After a competitive bidding war with his former team KKR, RCB successfully secured Salt as their first-choice wicketkeeper for the upcoming IPL season.

Salt exemplifies the aggressive mindset of a modern T20 opener, known for his fearless approach from the start of an innings. His ability to combine raw power with innovative stroke play makes him a formidable force during powerplays. He is particularly strong against pace bowling, making him unpredictable for opponents.
His batting style isn't just about power; he also has excellent hand-eye coordination and technical skills to adapt to various surfaces. Salt maintains his batting tempo even when wickets fall around him, making him invaluable in high-pressure run chases. His wicket-keeping skills further enhance his value in T20 cricket.
Salt began his IPL journey with DC in 2023, playing nine matches and scoring 218 runs. In 2024, he joined KKR as a replacement for Jason Roy due to injury and played a crucial role in their title-winning campaign by scoring 435 runs in 12 matches.
