IPL Auction 2025: RCB Signs Josh Hazlewood For INR 12.50 Crore Amidst Competitive Bidding
Josh Hazlewood, the Australian fast bowler, has rejoined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after being acquired for INR 12.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. This marks a significant return for Hazlewood to RCB, where he previously played.
The bidding for Hazlewood began at a base price of INR 2 crore. Intense competition came from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Mumbai Indians (MI). Ultimately, RCB secured his services for the upcoming season.

Hazlewood's addition is a major boost for RCB, who have faced challenges with their bowling lineup. Known for his accuracy and ability to perform under pressure, Hazlewood brings valuable experience to lead RCB's bowling attack.
The 32-year-old Australian has played over 100 T20 matches and was instrumental in Australia's 2021 T20 World Cup victory. He is expected to be a key player in RCB's plans for IPL 2025.
The INR 12.50 crore contract represents a significant pay increase for Hazlewood, whose previous deal with RCB was worth INR 7.75 crore. This new contract means he will earn nearly six times his base price.
Hazlewood initially joined Mumbai Indians in IPL 2014 but did not play any matches that season. After a break due to injuries and workload management, he debuted for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2020, playing three games that year.
In the following season, Hazlewood took 11 wickets for CSK. Joining Virat Kohli's team proved beneficial as he delivered his best IPL performance by taking 20 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 18.85.
His contributions were crucial in strengthening RCB's bowling unit. However, an Achilles injury limited him to just three matches in IPL 2023, and he missed IPL 2024 due to personal reasons.
