IPL Auction 2025: KKR CEO Venky Mysore Discusses Leadership Options Following Rahane's Return
The IPL 2025 mega auction wrapped up with ten teams fiercely competing to form their ideal squads. Each franchise aimed to create a balanced team by securing both seasoned players and promising newcomers, adding a new level of excitement to the auction proceedings.
In a notable move, Kolkata Knight Riders have brought back Ajinkya Rahane, a seasoned batter aged 36, for Rs. 1.75 crores. His return is expected to add significant experience and strategic insight to KKR, who were on the lookout for experienced top-order batsmen during the auction.

With Shreyas Iyer's exit leaving a leadership gap, KKR CEO Venky Mysore hinted at Rahane possibly taking on the captaincy role. Mysore highlighted the importance of careful consideration in choosing a leader, mentioning that the team's decision-makers would collectively assess their options.
Mysore stated, "To be honest, we have to sit down and take stock. Sometimes what happens is, after you've done all of these things, you just have to sit down, reflect, and look at the whole thing. There are stakeholders and parts of the think tank won't be here. So, we'll all sit down and have a proper chat about that, and I'm sure a proper decision will be made."
Throughout his IPL career, Rahane has accumulated 4642 runs in 185 matches with an average of 30.14, including two centuries. During his previous tenure with KKR in IPL 2022, he scored 133 runs over seven games with a top score of 44. This time around, Rahane seems ready to make a more significant impact.
His composed nature and strategic acumen could be crucial in mentoring KKR's younger players while strengthening their batting lineup. Whether as a senior player or potential captain, Rahane might be the key factor driving KKR towards success in the upcoming season.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Rahane's comeback with KKR, hoping his presence will help maintain their dominance in future seasons.
