IPL Auction 2025: Ravichandran Ashwin Returns To CSK After Ten Years, Fans Celebrate His Homecoming

Ravichandran Ashwin, a legendary bowler in IPL history, has made a remarkable return to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after being away for ten years. This unexpected move has thrilled fans and reignited memories of his contribution to the team's first championship victory.

The 2025 IPL Auction in Jeddah became a focal point as Ashwin's return was confirmed. His impressive performance with the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) had already set the stage for intense bidding. Starting at ₹2 crore, Ashwin quickly attracted interest from several franchises.

The auction saw fierce competition, with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and CSK initially battling it out. The situation intensified when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) entered the fray, creating a three-way contest. However, it was Rajasthan Royals' strategic bidding that pushed the price to ₹8 crore.

CSK, known for their determined approach, raised their bid to ₹9.75 crore, ultimately securing Ashwin's return. As Rajasthan Royals withdrew, CSK fans celebrated the successful acquisition of this seasoned spinner.

Ashwin's comeback adds valuable experience to CSK's bowling lineup as they aim for another title. Having played for teams like Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals over the years, Ashwin is now back where his IPL journey began. His last stint with CSK was in 2013 when he played a crucial role in their championship win.

On Twitter, fans expressed their excitement about Ashwin's return:

"Ravichandran Ashwin since his comeback: 4-0-14-2, 4-0-29-1, 4-0-20-3, 4-0-23-2. The man has put in effort and improved so much in both white and red ball over the last couple of years and is clearly showing it on the pitch. Proper comeback this is."
