IPL Auction 2025: BCCI Secures Full Commitment From Foreign Players For Upcoming Seasons

Numerous international players have committed to participating in the IPL from 2025 to 2027. This commitment is a significant step for the league, ensuring a strong player presence for the upcoming seasons. The mega auction scheduled for Sunday and Monday will be crucial in shaping the teams for these three years.

Players from Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe have confirmed their full participation. However, some players from England and Bangladesh might not be available for all matches over the next three years.

BCCI Confirms Foreign Player Commitments for IPL

Australia

Australian cricketers have promised full participation across all three IPL seasons. Matthew Short will only play half of the 2025 season. Additionally, those involved in the 150th-anniversary Test against England in 2027 may have limited availability. Cricket Australia has agreed to release players from domestic duties unless international commitments arise.

In 2026, Pakistan will visit Australia for a three-match series. In 2027, Australia will host England in Melbourne for a special Test match from March 11 to 15.

New Zealand

New Zealand Cricket has also ensured that its players are fully available. Mark Chapman will participate in only 55% of the 2025 season, while Will Young will be available for just half of it. Other New Zealand players are expected to be present throughout the season.

England

Centrally contracted English players like Jos Buttler and Harry Brook will be fully available for IPL 2025-27. Non-centrally contracted players are also expected to join. The ECB has pledged to avoid past issues by committing its players entirely to the tournament.

"ECB's non centrally contracted players are available for the next three seasons of the IPL. Some players will be out of contract in this period but within their current contracts they are available," a BCCI statement said.

South Africa

South African cricketers have committed fully, though Rilee Rossouw will only play half of the 2025 season. Nandre Burger is set to participate in 75% of that season.

West Indies and Zimbabwe

The West Indies and Zimbabwean players are mostly available except Dion Myres, who will play 85% of the 2025 season.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan cricketers are fully committed for IPL 2025. Their participation in subsequent seasons depends on their status after that year. Sri Lanka Cricket will confirm details closer to each season's auction.

Bangladesh

Most Bangladeshi players have limited availability, but Shakib Al Hasan plans to play all matches across these three seasons as informed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board to BCCI.

Afghanistan

Afghan players are set to participate fully across all three seasons, ensuring consistent representation in the league.

The BCCI's announcement provides clarity for franchises as they prepare strategies for both the mega-auction and future seasons. With commitments from major cricket boards worldwide, IPL's global appeal continues to strengthen with top-tier talent participating from various nations.
