IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Key Details On Washington Sundar's Bidding Time In Jeddah
The IPL 2025 mega auction's first day concluded with intense bidding, pushing prices to unprecedented levels. Rishabh Pant made history as the most expensive buy, with LSG acquiring him for Rs. 27 crore. Shreyas Iyer followed closely, fetching Rs. 26.75 crore from PBKS. Venkatesh Iyer became the priciest all-rounder at Rs. 23.75 crore.
The auction began with a pool of 574 players, comprising 366 Indian and 208 overseas cricketers. On the first day, 84 players were brought to the table, leaving many more to be considered on the second day. Both capped and uncapped players are included in this mix.

Teams must form squads of 18 to 25 players, with a limit of eight overseas members. Players are divided into base price categories ranging from Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 2 crore, with 81 players in the top bracket of Rs. 2 crore. No team has completed its squad yet, so aggressive bidding is expected on the second day.
Washington Sundar is a versatile cricketer known for his all-round skills at just 25 years old. As an off-spin bowler, he excels in delivering economical overs during power plays, using accuracy and subtle turns effectively against right-handed batters.
Sundar is also a reliable lower-order batsman who can stabilise innings or accelerate during death overs with clean hitting and calmness under pressure. His adaptability and sharp fielding further enhance his value as an all-rounder in shorter formats.
In his IPL career spanning 60 matches, Sundar has scored 378 runs and taken 37 wickets. His playing style suits IPL dynamics well, offering teams flexibility through his dual skill set and consistently impactful performances.
