IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Key Details On Prithvi Shaw's Bidding Timing And Career Highlights
The IPL 2025 Mega Auction began with intense bidding on Sunday, November 24, in Jeddah. The ten franchises collectively spent Rs 467.95 crore, acquiring 72 players in total.
Lucknow Super Giants made headlines by securing Rishabh Pant for a record Rs 27 crore. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer joined Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders also drew attention by purchasing Venkatesh Iyer for an impressive Rs 23.75 crore.

Day 2 of the auction is eagerly anticipated as several prominent players are yet to be picked. Among them is Mumbai's Prithvi Shaw, who is expected to attract significant interest.
Prithvi Shaw has been a notable presence in the IPL since his debut in 2018. Initially signed by Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils), he quickly made his mark as an aggressive opener. Shaw has delivered numerous memorable performances, including rapid half-centuries and impactful starts.
Despite his attacking style, Shaw has faced criticism for inconsistency and struggles against quality swing bowling. Discipline and fitness issues have also hindered his progress into the Indian team. Recently omitted from the Mumbai Ranji squad due to fitness concerns, Shaw aims to regain form through the IPL.
In the ongoing auction, Prithvi Shaw remains a key figure due to his batting prowess. Although released by Delhi Capitals, he is expected to attract multiple bids. Listed in Set 13 for capped batters, Shaw holds serial number 89 with a base price of Rs 75 lakh.
When Will Prithvi Shaw Be Auctioned?
The second day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction will commence at 3:30 pm IST. As Shaw is among the first listed players, he is likely to appear early at the auction table. With only seven players in his set, his fate could be decided between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
Note: The timing of a player's appearance at the auction table is based on assumptions related to IPL auction dynamics and may vary accordingly.
