IPL 2025 Auction: Notable Kerala Cricket League Players To Watch Out For
The IPL 2025 auction is poised to transform the rosters of all ten teams. Scheduled for November 24 and 25, this mega event will unfold over two days in Riyadh. With the auction just weeks away, teams are already strategising for the upcoming cycle.
Following the announcement of the retention list, a total of 1,574 players have registered for this grand auction. Big Indian names like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer are expected to be part of it. Additionally, uncapped Indian players from across the country are set to play a significant role.

The rise of T20 franchise leagues in India has put many emerging players on the radar of franchises. While leagues like TNPL and Karnataka Maharaja have gained attention, 2024 marked the debut of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). This six-team tournament delivered thrilling matches and introduced potential stars for the auction.
Among Kerala's talent pool, only Sanju Samson has been retained by Rajasthan Royals. Samson will continue as captain after being retained for Rs 18 crore. Sachin Baby, Kerala's captain, is another familiar face who might find a team during the auction.
Several Kerala players are expected to attract interest in this year's auction. Vishnu Vinod is one such player who has previously been part of IPL but had limited opportunities. Released by Mumbai Indians, Vinod impressed in KCL with 438 runs at a strike rate of 192 and hit 38 sixes.
Salman Nizar's performance with Calicut Globstars was remarkable in KCL's inaugural season. The Thalassery-born batter scored 431 runs and earned a spot in Kerala's Ranji team. His ability to anchor or accelerate makes him an intriguing option for franchises.
Potential Game Changers
Mohammed Azharuddeen was once part of RCB but didn't get a chance to play. In KCL, he scored 410 runs for Alleppy Ripples with a strike rate of 150. His wicketkeeping skills add value, making him a potential squad player for teams.
Akhil Scaria's bowling was crucial in Calicut Globstar's title-winning season. The pacer took 24 wickets and can also contribute with the bat down the order. His all-round abilities make him an attractive prospect in T20 cricket.
All-Round Talents
Abdul Bazith showcased his skills for Trivandrum Royals in KCL. Having played one IPL match with Rajasthan Royals before, he hopes to return after taking 13 wickets and scoring two fifties in KCL. His knack for hitting sixes and taking key wickets makes him appealing ahead of the auction.
The upcoming IPL auction promises excitement as teams look to bolster their squads with both seasoned players and emerging talents from leagues like KCL. Fans eagerly await which new stars will shine on this grand stage.
