IPL 2025 Auction: Mumbai Indians Eyeing Key Uncapped Players With RTM Card
Mumbai Indians (MI) faced a challenging IPL 2024 season, ending at the bottom of the table despite bringing back Hardik Pandya as captain. However, they have kept their core players like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya to build a strong base for IPL 2025.
With ₹45 crore available and one Right to Match (RTM) card, MI plans to secure a key uncapped Indian player in the IPL 2025 auction. The rules allow them to use their RTM only on uncapped players, giving them an opportunity to strengthen their team with emerging talent.

Anshul Kamboj stands out as a powerplay specialist and is a prime candidate for MI's RTM card. His impressive performance in IPL 2024 showcased his ability to swing the ball both ways while maintaining tight lines. Recently, he made headlines with a 10-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy and has joined the India A squad.
Nehal Wadhera has demonstrated his potential in IPL 2023 and 2024. Known for handling spin well and having a solid technique against pace, he could be vital in MI's middle-order. Despite limited chances in 2024, his breakthrough in IPL 2023 included two fifties in 14 matches.
Naman Dhir emerged as a standout performer in IPL 2024 with a strike rate of 177.21 over seven innings. His explosive batting at No. 3 and handy off-spin make him a top contender for MI's RTM card. Dhir's adaptability across different roles enhances his appeal.
Piyush Chawla remains a reliable wicket-taker despite his age. Reclassified as an uncapped player, he is eligible for MI's RTM card. Although slightly expensive, he took an impressive 22 wickets in IPL 2023 and added another 14 wickets in IPL 2024.
Strategic Moves for Mumbai Indians
By considering these uncapped players, MI aims to reinforce their squad with young talent while maintaining experienced performers like Piyush Chawla. This strategy could help them regain their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
The combination of promising newcomers and seasoned veterans offers MI a balanced approach to tackle future challenges effectively.
