IPL 2025 Auction Day 2: Key Guidelines And Timeline For Players Up For Bidding
The IPL 2025 Mega Auction kicked off with high drama in Jeddah, as teams fiercely competed to secure their preferred players. Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants were particularly active, while Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals had a quieter day. With some squads partially formed, the second day promises more intense bidding for the remaining players.
On the first day of the auction, Punjab Kings made headlines by acquiring Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crore. Lucknow Super Giants set a new record by purchasing Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. Shreyas Iyer moved from KKR to Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Meanwhile, KKR retained Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 23.75 crore, surpassing Virat Kohli's retention price. KL Rahul joined Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore.

During the first day, ten franchises spent a total of Rs 467.95 crore on acquiring 72 players across the initial 12 sets of the auction. Among these players, 24 were from overseas, and four RTM cards were utilised. However, 12 players remained unsold at the end of the day.

Day 2 Timeline and Events
Auction Start Time
The second day of the IPL 2025 auction will commence on Monday (November 25) at 1 pm local time in Jeddah, which corresponds to 3:30 pm IST in India.
Players Under Auction
A total of 493 players are set to be auctioned on Day 2 of the IPL Mega Auction.
Players Under the Hammer on Day 2
The auction will begin with Set 13 on Monday, featuring Capped Batters (BA2). Following this category are all-rounders (AL2), wicketkeepers (WK2), fast bowlers (FA2), and spinners (SP2), concluding with Set 17.
A traditional auction will be held for these five sets involving a total of 32 players. Subsequently, an accelerated auction will take place for player numbers ranging from 117 to 577.
Understanding Accelerated Auctions
An accelerated auction allows franchises to select up to 25 players they wish to see included in the bidding process. This list is typically pre-submitted by all ten franchises before the event begins.
The remaining players will be auctioned through this expedited process. Afterward, there might be a final round where franchises can nominate five additional players each for one last chance at acquisition during this mega event.
