IPL 2024: Tushar Deshpande Mocks RCB Fans, Deletes Post After Backlash

The fierce rivalry between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on a new dimension following RCB's decisive victory over CSK in a virtual eliminator in Bengaluru on May 18.

The tension from the match spilled over onto social media, leading to a flood of memes and trolling from both fanbases. CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande joined in on the fun, sharing a meme on his Instagram story that mocked RCB's perennial failure to secure an IPL trophy.

Deshpande Trolls RCB Fans, Deletes Post

In the meme, Deshpande posted a photo of Bengaluru's Cantonment Railway Station with the word 'Cantonment' abbreviated to 'Cant', a play on words highlighting RCB's inability to win the IPL despite multiple attempts.

The meme quickly garnered attention, adding fuel to the already blazing fire of fan rivalry. However, Deshpande soon deleted the story, perhaps realizing the intensity of the backlash it could provoke.

Following RCB's defeat, CSK fans flooded social media with celebratory posts, memes, and jibes directed at RCB. Virat Kohli, known for his aggressive on-field persona, became a prime target.

RCB entered the Eliminator of IPL 2024 after a remarkable win against CSK, which had sent their fans into a frenzy. The May 18 victory at M Chinnaswamy Stadium had sparked celebrations across Bangalore, with fans hopeful that this would finally be their year. However, the dream was short-lived as RCB faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 22.

RCB's journey in the Eliminator was a tale all too familiar for their supporters. Despite putting up a valiant effort, they were once again thwarted in their quest for the IPL title. After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals invited RCB to bat first, considering the potential impact of dew later in the game. RCB managed to score a competitive 172/8, thanks to some spirited performances.

However, RR chased down the target with relative ease, securing their spot in Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), scheduled to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 24. The loss left RCB fans heartbroken and gave CSK supporters another reason to celebrate.
