IPL 2024 Noise Peaks: Dhoni's Chepauk Entry Among Top Moments

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season has witnessed unprecedented noise levels, particularly during matches featuring Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The veteran cricketer, nearing the end of his illustrious career, continues to draw massive crowds, whether playing at his home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, or other venues since 2023.

During the title-winning IPL 2023 season, Dhoni's entrances were marked by significant noise levels, with decibel readings recorded at 112, 120, 117, 115, and other similar high figures as per broadcaster Star Sports. The following season saw these levels rise even further whenever Dhoni walked out to bat or executed a dismissal behind the stumps.

Top IPL 2024 Noise Moments

One notable incident occurred when Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell had to cover his ears due to the overwhelming noise at Chepauk when Dhoni entered to bat. However, this was not the highest noise level recorded during the season. Here are the top five moments when noise levels peaked in IPL 2024 according to Star Sports Shormeter:

1. Ajinkya Rahane's Dismissal at Wankhede (131 dB): The Mumbai crowd erupted in celebration when Rahane was caught at mid-on by Hardik Pandya after attempting to pull Gerald Coetzee in the second over of the IPL El Clasico.

2. MS Dhoni's Chepauk Entry (130 dB): Dhoni's entrances have consistently driven the crowd into a frenzy with whistles and chants, resulting in deafening noise levels at CSK's home ground.

3. Devdutt Padikkal's Golden Duck at Wankhede (130 dB): The Lucknow Super Giants batter was dismissed LBW off Nuwan Thusara on the third delivery of the match, prompting loud celebrations from the Mumbai crowd.

4. Thusara Dismissal of Pooran at Wankhede (129 dB): In the same game where Padikkal was dismissed for a golden duck, Thusara's removal of a dangerous Pooran, who had scored 75 off 29 balls, caught at long-on by Suryakumar Yadav also led to wild celebrations from the Mumbai crowd.

5. Rahul Falls To Chawla (129 dB): Another peak noise level was recorded during the MI vs LSG game when Piyush Chawla dismissed KL Rahul to complete a team hat-trick following two wickets taken by Thusara in the previous over.

Several other instances saw high decibel levels during the IPL 2024 season, especially in games held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The fervour and enthusiasm of fans have added an electrifying atmosphere to this year's tournament.
