Analyzing IPL 2024: Team Performances And Financial Insights On Cost Per Run
The IPL 2024 season has concluded, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerging victorious. KKR overcame numerous challenges to secure their third title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final match.
Several teams, including SRH, Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), showcased impressive performances. The tournament saw a significant number of runs scored over its two-month duration.

Among the ten participating teams, SRH led the chart with 2883 runs. RCB followed closely with 2784 runs, while RR secured the third spot with 2533 runs.
1. Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR accumulated 2481 runs in 16 games, with a total cost per run of INR 2.95 lakh. This efficiency highlights the value they gained from their batting lineup.
2. Punjab Kings: Despite scoring 2119 runs in 14 matches, Punjab Kings had a total cost per run of INR 5.05 lakh. Their inconsistency in batting led to their failure to qualify for the playoffs.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad: SRH amassed the highest runs in IPL 2024 with 2883 runs and a total cost per run of INR 6.13 lakh. However, they fell short in the final against KKR.

4. Chennai Super Kings: CSK experienced a mixed season, winning and losing seven games each in the league stage. They scored 2405 runs with a total cost per run of INR 8.37 lakh but failed to make it to the playoffs.
5. Mumbai Indians: The five-time champions had a disappointing season under Hardik Pandya's leadership, finishing at the bottom of the points table with 2422 runs and a total cost per run of INR 10.61 lakh.
6. Lucknow Super Giants: The Lucknow-based team did not qualify for the playoffs for the first time since their debut in IPL 2022. They scored 2350 runs with a total cost per run of INR 12.36 lakh.

7. Gujarat Titans: After winning the title in IPL 2022 and being runners-up in IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans failed to qualify for the playoffs this season. They scored 1931 runs with a total cost per run of INR 13.05 lakh.
8. Delhi Capitals: Led by Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals scored 2451 runs throughout the season but had a high total cost per run of INR 15.18 lakh, indicating poor value from their batting lineup.
9. Rajasthan Royals: RR scored 2533 runs with a total cost per run of INR 17.35 lakh. Despite starting strong, they lost momentum but managed to reach Qualifier 2 before being eliminated by SRH.
10. Royal Challengers Bangalore: RCB did not get optimal value from their batting attack, scoring fewer runs compared to other teams. Their journey ended after losing to RR in the Eliminator.
