IPL 2024: Key Move By Captains Will Decide RCB Vs CSK Clash, Says Ambati Rayudu

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu believes the crucial IPL 2024 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, May 18, will be decided on fine margins.

The defending champions CSK are currently placed third but can be pushed out of the top four if Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants win their remaining two matches.

With 14 points on board, Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK can seal a playoff spot with a win against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru due to their superior Net Run Rate (NRR). However, an RCB win will end their chances of a title defence if other results don't go their way.

As the game of such huge magnitude approaches, several experts have been making their predictions for the RCB vs CSK clash. Rayudu, who is a title winner with CSK, also shared his insights on what could decide the outcome of the game.

Rayudu, cricket expert and commentator with the official TV broadcaster Star Sports for IPL 2024, spoke on how important the presence and performance of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will be in the RCB vs CSK game.

"The kind of energy that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli bring to the set-up, the kind of positivity in terms of their own performances and their inspiration for others, will be a great thing to have in the dressing room," Rayudu said on Star Sports Press Room Show.

While Kohli and Dhoni take center stage, Rayudu feels the captains Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis' decision-making on the day could be the deciding factor for the high-voltage contest.

"On Saturday, it will definitely boil down to the captains, Ruturaj and Faf, and what they plan or what they do on the ground. But at the end of the day, that one crucial suggestion or one crucial move in the game, that would actually make the difference," Rayudu added.

"And all the teams are so good in this IPL from the last couple of seasons, there's no difference. There's not much difference between the sides. So, those one percenters will make a difference and both of them will play a crucial role."
