IPL 2024 Qualifier 2: SRH Vs RR's Top Wicket-Takers Face Off

IPL 2024 is nearing its climax, and the second qualifier will see Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, May 24.

SRH ended the season in second place but lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Qualifier-1. Meanwhile, RR secured a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the eliminator. KKR defeated SRH by eight wickets, while RR comfortably overcame RCB.

Historically, SRH and RR have clashed 19 times, with SRH winning ten matches. Their last encounter saw SRH clinch a narrow victory by one run.

SRH's bowling has relied heavily on pacers this season. Pat Cummins has led their pace attack effectively. Although Bhuvneshwar Kumar has underperformed, uncapped pacer T. Natarajan has been exceptional. However, their spin department has not made a significant impact.

T. Natarajan (SRH): With 18 wickets this season, Natarajan has been crucial for Hyderabad. The left-arm medium-fast bowler will be key against RR's top-order batters.

Pat Cummins (SRH): The Australian right-arm fast bowler has taken 16 wickets this season. Alongside Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he aims to disrupt RR's batting early on.

Trent Boult (RR): The Kiwi left-arm medium-fast bowler has 13 wickets this season and excels in powerplay overs. He will be vital against SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.

Yuzvendra Chahal (RR): The right-arm leg-spinner is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history and leads RR with 18 wickets this season. Despite a higher economy rate, he remains crucial alongside Ashwin to contain SRH's middle order.

A defeat against KKR might affect SRH's morale, while RR has defied expectations by defeating RCB. However, IPL is known for its unpredictability.
