IPL 2024: Unveiling The Purple Cap Winner And Glance At Past Champions

Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Harshal Patel is poised to secure the Purple Cap for the second time in four seasons on Sunday, May 26. Patel has taken 24 wickets in 14 matches, boasting an average of 19.87 and an economy rate of 9.73.

As the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) prepare for the final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, KKR's leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy needs five wickets to surpass Patel. Chakravarthy has claimed 20 wickets in 14 matches, with an average of 19.65 and an economy rate of 8.18.

IPL 2024 Purple Cap Winner Revealed

Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah, currently in the USA for the T20 World Cup 2024, also took 20 wickets in 13 matches. His average stands at 16.80, with a strike rate of 6.48.

SRH's T Natarajan has impressed with 19 wickets in 13 matches, maintaining an average of 22.94 and an economy rate of 8.83. PBKS's Arshdeep Singh concluded his IPL 2024 campaign with 19 wickets at an average of 26.57 and a strike rate of 10.03. Rajasthan Royals' Avesh Khan also took 19 wickets, averaging 27.68 with a strike rate of 9.59.

RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal remains among the leading wicket-takers, securing 18 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 30.33 and a strike rate of 9.41. Both Chahal and Arshdeep are part of India's squad for the T20 World Cup, while Avesh Khan is one of four travelling reserves. Delhi Capitals' Khaleel Ahmed, another reserve player, picked up 17 wickets this season.
