IPL 2024 Highlights: Key Players Surpassing 500 Runs

IPL 2024 has seen numerous records being broken as teams leverage the Impact Player rule to extend their batting line-ups, resulting in massive totals and successful chases.

The decade-old record for the highest total, previously held by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, was surpassed three times this season. Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the record twice within a few days, while Punjab Kings set a new record for the highest successful chase in T20 cricket.

Top IPL 2024 Scorers Over 500 Runs

While teams have been posting big totals, the primary factor behind this is the batters accumulating runs. The ever-consistent Virat Kohli leads the run-scoring chart this season. Following him are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Travis Head, Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul.

RCB's Kohli is the only batter with over 700 runs, while others have crossed or are nearing the 500-run mark with four games left in the season. Here is a look at players who have scored 500 or more runs this campaign:

  • Virat Kohli (RCB) - 708 runs in 14 innings
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK) - 583 runs in 14 innings
  • Travis Head (SRH) - 533 runs in 12 innings
  • Riyan Parag (RR) - 531 runs in 12 innings
  • Sai Sudharsan (GT) - 527 runs in 12 innings
  • KL Rahul (LSG) - 520 runs in 14 innings
  • Sanju Samson (RR) - 504 runs in 13 innings

Nicholas Pooran finished his campaign one run short of 500. A few more players like Abhishek Sharma, Sunil Narine, Faf Du Plessis, and Heinrich Klaasen could cross the 500-run mark in the remaining four matches.

As it stands, eight players have crossed the 500-run mark in a single season. This record is likely to be matched or broken this season as seven players have already achieved this milestone.

Kohli and Rahul have been among the most consistent run-makers in the Indian Premier League alongside seasoned campaigners David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. Here is a look at players with 500 plus runs most times in an IPL season:
