IPL 2024 Final Sees Limited Indian T20 World Cup Squad Participation

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024 Final on Sunday, May 26, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. SRH secured their spot in the final after a decisive victory over Rajasthan Royals.

Following the IPL 2024, the T20 World Cup is set to commence in the West Indies and USA from June 1. Team India will be among the 20 teams competing for the title. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced a robust squad for the tournament.

Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team, with other top players from across the country participating. Initially, it was anticipated that team members would travel to the West Indies in separate groups. However, it appears that all players will now depart together for the World Cup.

Among the ten IPL teams, only six have representatives in India's T20 World Cup squad. Notably, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants do not have any players in the squad, even among the reserves.

With Rajasthan Royals' elimination by SRH on Friday, all 15 members of India's T20 World Cup squad have been knocked out of IPL 2024. Captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav were already out as Mumbai Indians finished last in the table.

Other players like Arshdeep Singh (PBKS), Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant (both DC) were eliminated during the group stages. Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj exited as RCB lost in the Eliminator round. The trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Yuzvendra Chahal also departed following RR's elimination.

Rinku Singh: The Sole India Representative

KKR's Rinku Singh is the only player from India's extended 19-member squad who will participate in the IPL 2024 Final. He is one of four travelling reserves for India.
