Fans Welcome Indian Cricket Team In Mumbai; Rain Affects Wankhede Celebrations

A large crowd of fans gathered at Mumbai airport on Thursday, July 4, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Indian cricket team.

The team was honoured in New Delhi after arriving early Wednesday morning from their triumphant T20 World Cup campaign. They were greeted with joy at Indira Gandhi International Airport before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Team India's Warm Welcome in Mumbai

Before the event, numerous Indian fans were spotted at Mumbai airport, eager to see players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The excitement among netizens was palpable as they anticipated seeing their favourite stars up close.

Currently, the team has headed to Mumbai where an open-top bus parade is planned. Starting in the afternoon, the parade will travel from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium.

Meanwhile, BCCI announced free entry for spectators at Wankhede Stadium. Gates opened at 4 pm, and many fans arrived despite heavy rain dampening spirits. A fan video on X showed people drenched amid a thunderous downpour.

This weather has raised concerns about the ceremony proceeding as planned. The event will be paused until the rain ceases in Mumbai. Ironically, rain seems to be following Team India; their return was delayed due to a hurricane hitting the Caribbean islands earlier this week.

In 2007, after winning the T20 World Cup, a similar bus parade took place in Mumbai. BCCI has also organised a ceremony at Wankhede Stadium this time around.
