Rinku Singh Outshines Suryakumar Yadav In T20I Sixes Record

Young Indian batters showcased a commendable performance on Sunday, July 7, following their defeat by Zimbabwe bowlers in the first T20I in Harare. They posted an impressive total in the second match, leading to a significant victory.

Abhishek Sharma's sensational century, playing his second game for India, was pivotal. The Shubman Gill-led team amassed a formidable 234/2 in their allotted 20 overs, marking India's highest score against Zimbabwe in T20I cricket.

The Indian team's batting prowess in the final 10 overs set a new benchmark in T20I cricket. They scored 160 runs off the last 60 balls, surpassing Sri Lanka's record of 159 runs against Kenya in 2007. This achievement places India at the top for most runs scored in the last 10 overs of a T20I match.

Another highlight was their explosive scoring in the last five overs, where they accumulated 82 runs. The Indian batting lineup demonstrated remarkable power, particularly towards the end of their innings.

Sharma, who faced criticism for his duck in the debut game, emerged as the star with a brilliant knock of 100 off just 44 deliveries. Ruturaj Gaikwad added an unbeaten 77, while Rinku Singh played a blazing innings of 48 not out off just 22 balls, including five sixes and two fours.

Rinku's aggressive batting broke Suryakumar Yadav's record for most sixes by an Indian batsman in the 19th and 20th overs of a T20I match. His performance included hitting two consecutive sixes in the final overs.

The Uttar Pradesh batter now has hit 17 sixes off 48 balls in these overs, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav's record of 14 sixes off 62 balls. Hardik Pandya tops this list with 32 sixes off 193 balls.

The Indian bowlers also contributed significantly by restricting Zimbabwe to just 134 runs during their chase. This effort resulted in India winning the game by a substantial margin of 100 runs and levelling the five-match series at one apiece.
