India Women Vs South Africa Series: Squads Announced, Key Players Return With Conditions

India has announced their squads for the all-format series against South Africa Women, starting from June 16 in Bengaluru. Batter Jemimah Rodrigues and allrounder Pooja Vastrakar have been named in India's Test and white-ball squads for the upcoming home series against South Africa, but their selection is subject to fitness. Rodrigues missed the five-match T20I series in Bangladesh due to a back injury, undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Vastrakar participated in all five games in Bangladesh, but the BCCI media statement did not specify the nature of her injury. Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry was also included in all three squads. She replaced Yastika Bhatia, who is out injured after playing just one T20I in Bangladesh.

Top-order batter Priya Punia, who last played for India in July 2023, earned a call-up to the Test side. However, fast bowler Titas Sadhu, who was part of the T20Is against Bangladesh has been left out. Saika Ishaque has been also named as a standby player.

Legspinner Sobhana Asha, who made her T20I debut in Bangladesh has earned her maiden ODI call-up. Dayalan Hemalatha has been named in both ODI and T20I squads. Shreyanka Patil has also earned call-ups is limited overs format after her stellar WPL season with the victorious RCB women side.

Bengaluru and Chennai will host the women's all-format series. South Africa's all-format women's tour of India will begin with a three-match ODI series, followed by the one-off Test, and then 3 T20Is. The ODIs and a one-day warm-up game for the visiting side against a Board President's XI will be in Bengaluru, while the rest of the games will be in Chennai.
